3. Scope of These Terms
These Card Terms and Conditions set out the rules for the issuing, use, security and termination of your CDG Card. They form part of your overall payment services agreement with Codego / the Issuer and must be read together with:
- the Account / Wallet Terms and Conditions;
- the CDG Project Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy;
- the AML & KYC Policy and Risk Disclosure & Disclaimer;
- any specific tariff or Fees Schedule communicated in the App or on the website.
4. Eligibility and KYC
To obtain and use a CDG Card you must:
- be at least 18 years old (or higher age where required under local law);
- successfully complete all identity and verification checks (KYC) requested by Codego and the Issuer;
- not be a resident of any country where the service is not offered or restricted;
- not appear on any applicable sanctions list or be otherwise barred from using payment services.
Codego and the Issuer may request additional information at any time (for example proof of address, source of funds/wealth) and may refuse or limit the Card if you do not provide it or if risk assessments require it.
5. Card Issuance, Activation and Expiry
5.1 Issuance
A Card may be issued to you as:
- a virtual card available inside the App; and/or
- a physical card (usually Mastercard or Visa) sent to the delivery address you provide.
Each Card is linked to one Account. Multiple Cards may be linked to the same Account where the programme allows.
5.2 Activation
You must follow the instructions in the App to activate your Card before you can use it. For physical cards, you may also be required to perform an initial chip & PIN transaction at a POS terminal or ATM.
5.3 Validity Period and Renewal
The expiry date is printed on your physical Card and/or shown in the App for virtual Cards. You may not use the Card after its expiry date. The Issuer or Codego may decide to renew or not renew the Card at their discretion. If the Card is renewed, a new card and/or virtual details will be provided.
6. Using the Card
You may use the Card, subject to sufficient available balance and applicable limits, for:
- purchases of goods and services at merchants that accept the Card network (e.g. Mastercard/Visa);
- online (e-commerce) purchases using card number, expiry date and security code (CVC/CVV) and any required SCA;
- cash withdrawals from ATMs where permitted by the programme;
- contactless payments and use in digital wallets such as Apple Pay or Google Pay, where available.
You must not use the Card for:
- any unlawful purpose or prohibited activity (including fraud, money laundering, sanctions evasion, illegal gambling, or prohibited crypto use in certain jurisdictions);
- transactions in countries or with counterparties subject to applicable sanctions or restrictions;
- business or high-risk activities not permitted by the Issuer or Codego.
7. Loading, Balances and Currency Conversion
The Card is linked to an electronic money balance or payment account. Funds can usually be added by:
- bank transfer (e.g. SEPA) into your IBAN or account reference;
- internal transfers from other wallets inside the Codego / CDG system;
- other top-up methods, where enabled (e.g. card top-up, voucher).
You can only spend the available balance; no credit line is provided. If, for any reason, your Account shows a negative balance (for example due to fees or chargebacks), you must repay the outstanding amount without delay.
If a Transaction is made in a currency different from the currency of your Account, currency conversion will be performed by the Card network or the Issuer at the applicable exchange rate and fees as shown in the Fees Schedule or App. Merchants may also offer Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC); you should check the applicable rate and fees before accepting DCC.
8. Fees, Limits and Statements
Details of Card and Account fees (including issuance, monthly fees, ATM withdrawals, FX mark-up, replacement cards and other charges) are provided in the dedicated Fees Schedule available in the App or on the CDG / Codego website. You agree to these fees by using the Card.
Transaction and balance information will be available in the App and/or via periodic statements on a durable medium. You should review your transactions regularly and report any discrepancies without undue delay.
Daily or periodic limits may apply to:
- total spending or cash withdrawals;
- number of Transactions;
- maximum balance on the Account.
Limits may depend on your verification level, risk profile and applicable law.
9. Security, PIN and Strong Customer Authentication
You must keep the Card, Card details, PIN and any security codes safe at all times. In particular you must:
- never share your PIN or security codes with anyone, including friends, family, Codego staff or support;
- not write down your PIN or store it together with the Card;
- only use the App on secure devices with updated operating systems and security software;
- log out and lock your device when not in use;
- immediately change your password and contact support if you suspect compromise.
The Issuer and Codego may use Strong Customer Authentication (for example a combination of password, device token, biometric and SMS / app code) for online payments, high-risk actions and access to the App.
10. Loss, Theft, Misuse and Liability
10.1 Your Duty to Inform
If your Card, Mobile Device or security credentials are lost, stolen, misused or accessed by an unauthorised person, or if you see any Transaction that you do not recognise:
- you must immediately block the Card in the App, if possible; and
- you must immediately contact customer support using the official contact channels shown in the App or on the website.
10.2 Your Liability
Up to the extent permitted by applicable law:
- You may be liable for unauthorised Transactions resulting from the loss, theft or misuse of the Card if you have acted fraudulently or with gross negligence (for example by sharing your PIN or failing to keep your device secure).
- You may be liable up to a limited amount for unauthorised Transactions that occur before you notify us, where allowed by law.
- You will not be liable for unauthorised Transactions that occur after you have notified us and the Card has been blocked, except where you have acted fraudulently.
10.3 Our / Issuer’s Liability
Where a Transaction is unauthorised, not executed or incorrectly executed due to our or the Issuer’s fault, we will refund the amount of the Transaction and restore the Account to the state it would have been in if the Transaction had not occurred, subject to your timely notification and applicable law.
11. AML, Sanctions and Compliance
Codego and the Issuer are required to comply with anti-money laundering, counter-terrorist financing, sanctions and fraud-prevention laws and regulations. This may include:
- verifying your identity and, if you are a business, your ownership structure and representatives;
- monitoring Transactions for unusual or suspicious activity;
- screening you and Transaction counterparties against sanctions lists and watchlists;
- requesting additional information or documents about specific Transactions.
Where required, we may:
- delay, block or reject Transactions;
- freeze or close the Card and/or Account;
- report suspicious activity to competent authorities.
12. Complaints and Dispute Resolution
If you are dissatisfied with the Card or related services, you should contact our support team first via the channels indicated in the App or at: support@cdgproject.com.
Complaints will be handled in accordance with our internal procedures and any requirements of the Issuer and applicable law. Where applicable, you may also have the right to escalate a complaint to the competent financial ombudsman or supervisory authority in the Issuer’s jurisdiction.
13. Term, Suspension and Termination
These Terms apply for as long as you hold and use a Card issued under the CDG Card programme.
You may request closure of your Card and Account at any time by following the instructions in the App or by contacting support. Before closure you must:
- repay any negative balance or fees due; and
- withdraw or transfer any remaining positive balance, subject to any legal restrictions.
The Issuer and/or Codego may suspend or terminate your Card and/or Account for reasons including (without limitation):
- breach of these Terms or other applicable agreements;
- reasonable suspicion of fraud, misuse or security breach;
- failure to pass or maintain required KYC/AML checks;
- legal or regulatory requirements or instructions from competent authorities;
- prolonged inactivity or operational reasons, with appropriate notice where possible.
Where permitted, we will notify you of the reason for suspension or termination, except where such disclosure would be unlawful or compromise security.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may amend these Card Terms and Conditions from time to time, for example to:
- reflect changes in law, regulation or card network rules;
- introduce new features or remove obsolete functionality;
- adjust to operational, security or risk management requirements.
Where required by law, you will be notified of changes on a durable medium (for example via the App or by e-mail) at least the minimum notice period in advance. If you do not agree with the changes, you may terminate the Card and Account before the effective date. Continued use of the Card after the effective date will be deemed acceptance of the updated Terms.
15. Governing Law and Language
Unless otherwise required by mandatory local consumer protection rules, these Terms and any disputes arising out of or in connection with them shall be governed by the laws applicable to the Issuer’s jurisdiction, as set out in your main payment services agreement.
The language of these Terms and of our communication with you will generally be English, unless another language is explicitly agreed or required by law.
